Embracing the Journey:

Lessons from Frogulism for New Years

As we welcome another year, many of us engage in the time-honored tradition of setting New Year's resolutions. In the spirit of Frogulism, a religion rooted in harmony with nature and the pursuit of personal growth, we find valuable lessons on how to approach these resolutions. Frogulism teaches us that the journey towards our goals, including the inevitable stumbles, is as important as the destination itself. Just as every creature plays a role in our ecosystem, every step towards our goals whether successful or not will contribute to our growth.

Understanding that each person's path is unique can help us be more compassionate and forgiving to ourselves and others in their journeys. What may be a small hop for one may be a giant leap for another. Our resolutions might be personal, but the support we give and receive from those around us can be a powerful motivator. Sharing our struggles and success fosters a sense of belonging and shared purpose, failure is not something we should shy away from or shame but instead look at what we could of done to help. Every attempt, successful or not, is a learning opportunity. Wisdom lies in understanding our mistakes, adjusting our strategies, and moving forward with new insight. Holding ourselves accountable is key but being honest about why we failed helps us identify the real challenges and address them fairly.

Many resolutions fail due to inner conflicts, people tend to be harder on themselves and give up entirely when they hit a speed bump. Instead we should approach with a mindset of peace and understanding to find a middle ground between our desires and our capabilities. It's important to treat ourselves with the same kindness we would offer to others who are struggling. Self-compassion in the face of failure is a profound act of empathy.

Your resolution is your own. It should be something that brings you joy, fulfillment, or improvement, not a burden imposed by societal expectations. It should ultimately contribute to our well-being, whether it's physical, mental, or spiritual. It's about finding balance, not extremes.

Integrity in our resolutions means acknowledging when a goal is not right for us or when we need to change our approach, there is courage in re-calibrating our goals to fit our capabilities. So take responsibility for your resolutions and actively engage in the process of change, be your own steward and help guide yourself to a future of growth.

When we are faced with obstacles we must be creative and innovative. Sometimes the best way forward is simply to forge a new path, one that might be less traditional but better suited to our unique strengths and circumstances.

Remember, Frogulism teaches us that failure in our resolutions is not the end, but a natural part of the journey. Each attempt, successful or not, is a step forward in our path of self-discovery and growth. So as you set your New Year's resolutions, remember to embrace each step of the journey with kindness, understanding and an open heart.
